Chloé Zhao makes history as the first woman of color to win the Oscar for Best Director


 

Chloé Zhao took home the Oscar for Best Director for the film Nomadland at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, becoming the first woman of color and the second woman ever to win the award. In her acceptance speech, Zhao referenced a Chinese idiom that says "People at birth are inherently good."
